As a responsible company D C Ross takes its employee health & safety and environmental responsibilities very seriously. We provide all new employees with structured introductory training and continue with up-to-date safety awareness training on an ongoing basis.
DC Ross trains all staff in the practices of the DuPont 'STOP' workplace H&S program which is essentially a safety observation cycle. We operate on the principle that ALL injuries and occupational illnesses can be prevented and safety is everyone's responsibility.
The DuPONT 'STOP' program teaches employees to rely on themselves and each other to stay safe. This approach fosters peer-to-peer communication about safety, allowing safety to become second nature to the individual. A strong sense of a safe working environment has become an integrated part of the culture within our organisation resulting in Zero lost time injuries for a number of years.
DC Ross operates in an environmentally responsible way by ensuring that the company recycles and reduces energy consumption whenever possible.
We operate dedicated recycling bays where scrap metal of different grades of steel are stored for re-cycling. We also re-circulate residual heat from our press cooling systems to heat the production facility in winter.
All staff at D C Ross recently attended a number of in-house seminars run by Dunedin City Council to educate staff in environmental best practice both inside the work place and at home.
D C Ross is a member of Trade Waste Exchange operated by Dunedin City Council.
