We use a three-phase approach with every new project to ensure the best outcome for our customers.
Phase 1: Consultation
Understanding what you need is the first step to creating your personalized solution. We work with you to define dimensions, critical tolerance and functionality of the component part. In most cases, we carry out specific research and development to determine the data and best practices required to design and build your unique fine blanking press tooling.
Phase 2: Design
Testing our designs to ensure they will meet your needs is the next step in our approach. A computer generated strip layout is created to simulate how the component will be fine blanked from the steel strip. If there are a number of progressions required to produce the final component part, the strip layout will highlight what happens at each station during the progression. The final station is where the blanked and formed component is fully fine blanked and separated from the strip. After the strip layout is evaluated and approved, the fine blanking press tool is designed and modeled in 3D (using 3D computer design software, SolidWorks). Once the designs are validated, we create the component drawings and computer code for manufacturing tooling components.
Phase 3. Manufacturing, calibration and trials
This is the final phase in our approach. After generating the component drawings and code (from the drawings) for our specialized machines, tooling components are manufactured and the press tooling is assembled and calibrated. To ensure premium accuracy, the press tool is then fitted to the production press where we fine-tune and produce trial components for validation checks. Once tooling set up is optimized, the tool is ramped up in speed to full production stroke rate. Our quality assurance department trials each component to ensure all tolerances are compliant with part drawing specifications.
